Juneau meth dealer sentenced to 10 years in federal prison
Anchorage, Alaska – United States Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced today that Ryan Budd Burnett, a resident of Juneau, Alaska, was sentenced in federal court in Juneau to 120 months imprisonment for his conviction of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
United States District Judge Timothy M. Burgess imposed the sentence on Burnett, 30.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Jack S. Schmidt, in November 2009, Burnett was intercepted at the SEATAC airport by law enforcement officers along with his coconspirator who was body carrying approximately 11 ounces of methamphetamine. Burnett intended to distribute the methamphetamine in Juneau, Alaska. Burnett was convicted at trial by a federal jury in March 2011. The case was tried by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack S. Schmidt.
Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Burgess the extremely serious nature of distributing methamphetamine and the affects of drug use on the community.
Ms. Loeffler commended the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Port of Seattle Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Burnett.
